Ablert S. Abbasse for State Senate 2006
ESTREP

Seniors

Life has not gotten any easier for you, has it? There are many nice people in our world, but you must determine not only who is nice, but also who is going to work voraciously in your best interest. Nice goes only so far, you need a State Representative that knows and has a great understanding of how the legislative process works. You need a State Representative that understands the economics of government and how to find economic gains that will continue to support the benefits that you have spent your entire life working to provide for your retirement. You did not work hard to have inexperienced legislators manipulate economic revenue that strips you of your needed benefits. As an Economist and Political Scientist, I will not only work hard to protect your benefits, I will find other areas within the budget to help fund the programs that you deserve and have worked all of your life to obtain.

I have attached an example worksheet that will help you determine if the new Prescription Drug Program will benefit you, or hurt you! This is only an example and there may be slight differences depending upon individual circumstances so remember this is just a guide. The workings of the program are very complicated and I have tried to simplify this to give you an idea of what to expect. Find you income level and follow that column down to “out of pocket expense” and how much you will lose under the program. These examples take into consideration that the average senior takes 5 different medications. This amount may vary if your take less or More. If you take more, then your remaining income will be less. If you have difficulty figuring yours out, call me and I or a staff member will work through the process with you so that you will know exactly what your future costs will be, beginning next year when the program begins. Then answer the question, are you better off than you were before? This is what I mean by experience and providing the information you need to make an informed decision.

Did you know that prisoners in our state receive FREE Medical Care and FREE Prescription Drugs? I find this appalling. They break the utmost tenants of societal rules and YOU who have worked all your life to provide for your retirement and health needs must not only pay for your own needs but also have your tax dollars PAY FOR the needs of those that seriously violate our laws. I will work very hard to correct this!

I believe in one thing and one thing only, People First!!! I will work tirelessly for you and your rights. So as you can see, I am not only a nice person watching out for you and your best interests, I understand legislation and will work to assure you that our state will not leave you out in the cold, even if our national legislative leadership does. The federal Prescription Drug Program does not provide sufficient benefits for those seniors living on limited fixed incomes. It still forces our seniors to decide whether they will eat or take their medication. Do not forget on November 02, 2004 that Albert S. Abbasse will be the candidate working to make People First!!
